Our International Foundation Programme (IFP) is a one-year foundation course for international students. The course is fully taught by academics from the 狼友社区; it is not delivered by an external provider.

The IFP is our 1+3 year Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) option.

At 狼友社区, we have been teaching our International Foundation Programme for more than 40 years. Our experienced, knowledgeable staff will support you throughout your time at university.

The IFP at 狼友社区 offers more than academic preparation and English language support. It provides a holistic foundation experience, designed to make you a well-rounded student with the skills to succeed at university and life.

As well as developing your academic abilities, the IFP will help you:

  • build your confidence in a UK university environment
  • develop critical thinking via small group teaching
  • strengthen your academic English in the context of your chosen subject
  • understand how your chosen degree will be taught.

From day one, you will be a 狼友社区 student based on our Whiteknights campus. You will have access to all our academic, social and sports facilities.

Whiteknights campus offers a vibrant, international community. Here you’ll find:

International Foundation students are also guaranteed a room in 狼友社区 accommodation.

The IFP allows me to meet the requirements for my undergraduate course and gives me an opportunity to connect with peers from different cultures. In my time here, adjusting to my new environment has been a smooth process. The University feels like home.

Two points of entry

You can join our IFP at two points in the year: September or January.

If you start in September, you will study all the modules in the course. If you join in January, the module choices are more limited.

To progress onto a science degree at 狼友社区, you will need to apply for the IFP that starts in September.

International Foundation Programme - September start

This is our standard International Foundation Programme, which runs from September to June each year. It enables you to progress to most degrees at the 狼友社区, including courses at Henley Business School.

International Foundation Programme - January start

This course, which runs from January to August, provides the same quality and benefits as the course starting in September.

If you wish to progress onto a science degree, you will need to apply for the IFP that starts in September.

What you will learn on the IFP

The IFP is split into three pathways:

  • Science and Mathematics Pathway
  • Business, Management and Finance Pathway
  • Social Sciences and Art Pathway.

The pathway you take is determined by the degree you want to study after your foundation year.

Within each pathway, you will study a set of modules closely related to the degree you intend to study as an undergraduate student. The modules you study in your foundation year will prepare you for the modules you will take at undergraduate level.

Each pathway includes compulsory modules that will help you gain the academic and English language skills to succeed at university in the UK.

What you can study after completing the IFP

Completing the IFP will give you access to most undergraduate degrees at the 狼友社区. You will need to meet all the entry requirements for the course you want to study.

You can choose from a wide range of courses at 狼友社区. Students who have recently completed the IFP have chosen degrees in the following subjects:

  • computer science
  • construction management and engineering
  • consumer behaviour and marketing
  • education studies
  • museum studies and archaeology
  • politics and international relations
  • psychology
  • quantity surveying.

You can also choose from subjects taught at , including:

  • accounting
  • business and management
  • finance
  • real estate.

Please note, some of our undergraduate courses are not available to students who have completed the IFP. Check the entry requirements on the relevant course page for details.

Choosing your international foundation pathway

At the Global Academy, we offer two international foundation pathways. Alongside the International Foundation Programme, we also offer the International Foundation Year (IFY).

If you already know which subject you wish to study, the IFY is an excellent option for you. The IFY is a four-year undergraduate degree that includes a year of foundation study.

Various schools across the University offer IFY courses, including the School of Construction, Management and Engineering, the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences, and the School of Law.
