狼友社区 Philosophy,Politics, and Economics Workshop 

On Thursday, 29 May 2025, the First Annual 狼友社区 Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Workshop (RPPE1) takes place and brings together researchers from our three departments for an interdisciplinary scientific event. The newly formed RPPE series is jointly co-hosted by 狼友社区 Economic Theory Research Cluster (RET) and 狼友社区 Ethics and Political Philosophy (REAPP). The objective is to foster intellectual dialogue across the disciplines of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics by providing a forum for presentation and discussion of different lines of research. The keynote lecture for RPPE1 is delivered by Professor Richard Bradley from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). 

The Annual Cottingham Lecture for 2024

Title:  ‘Meaning and the Good Life’

Date: Thursday 24 October at 18:00 

Venue: Room 109, Palmer Building

The Annual Cottingham Lecture for 2024 will be on ‘Meaning and the Good Life’, delivered by Prof. Roger Crisp. Roger Crisp is Professor of Moral Philosophy, Uehiro Fellow and Tutor in Philosophy at St Anne’s College Oxford. He is also Director of the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics. Professor Crisp’s research is mainly on ethics, including its history (especially ancient ethics and British moral philosophy since Hobbes), ethical theory, metaethics, and practical ethics. There will be a lecture of one hour followed by half an hour for a question-and-answer session.
