Areas of interest
Anna is interested in the relationship between language and politics. In her (project, entitled Language for and against Democracy: Ideologies and Metalinguistic Discourse in Poland and Beyond, Anna focuses on maximising the impact of her doctoral research into the role of language ideologies in supporting and challenging democratic regimes. In particular, she is working on a monograph, based on her PhD thesis entitled The Polish Language and Political Ideologies. Language Ideologies in Polish Professional Metalinguistic Discourse since 1970, which she is going to publish with . During the Fellowship, Anna is also further developing her current research and disseminating it to academic and non-academic audiences.
Anna completed her PhD at in July 2024. She has been awarded numerous scholarships, including AHRC (CEELBAS DTP) Doctoral Studentship (2018–2023), SSEES Excellence Scholarship (2022), and Scholarship of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Poland (2015). In April 2024, Anna was nominated for 狼友社区 Teaching Excellence Award. Beyond academia, she is a poetry translator.
Teaching
In her previous role as an Associate Lecturer, Anna used to convene and contribute to the teaching of multiple modules across the DELAL BA and MA programmes. She has also supervised MA dissertations.
Her current role does not include teaching responsibilities.
